The Antigua Yacht Club (AYC) would like to congratulate the Antigua Optimist Team for participating in the Optimist Worlds Championship in Bodrum-Turkey 2022. The weather conditions was a bit of a mixture. The 4 Youths sailors, Alistair Knoblauch, Patrick Greensmith , Emily Gaillard and Carrack Jones besides the weather condition and heat they worked hard towards qualifiers.
Out of 276 sailors in Bodrum, Alistair Knoblauch is the first Antiguan Optimist Sailor who’s performance was the best ever at the Worlds Championship, he qualified for Silver fleet ranked 126 with the jump of 130 spot , Bronze Fleet Patrick Greensmith ranked 203, Emily Gaillard was in the top of the Emerald fleet and ranked 230 , followed by Carrack Jones on his First Optimist Worlds championship who ranked 253. They should be proud to have represent Antigua and Barbuda at a major International Regatta and we hope lots of knowledge was taken.
